As parents, we sought to provide our teenage daughters with the necessary skills to recognize potential domestic violence perpetrators in their future relationships. Upon reaching out to various counselling services, we discovered that support was often limited unless there was a specific, treatable condition present. Our experience gaining knowledge on identifying domestic violence perpetrators was highly educational. As parents, we believed we possessed the necessary tools to inform our daughters about this important issue; however, after a single therapy session with Jeff, we realized that both we and our daughters had much to learn. Following four sessions at Soul Star Counselling, we now feel significantly more confident in our daughters’ ability to recognise and speak out regarding domestic violence concerns.
