As a single mother, I recently became aware that one of my sons identifies as gay. While I am committed to supporting and caring for all my children, I have observed that my son has faced significant emotional challenges, particularly following his father’s decision to disown him. I sought assistance from a few therapists; however, my son had trouble establishing trust and was hesitant to open up during these sessions.
Previously, when I reached out to other counsellors, they usually took a while to respond. In contrast, Jeff from Soul Star Counselling returned my call within 15 minutes and provided helpful, insightful advice. I went to the initial session with my son to determine if Jeff would be a good fit, as parental reassurance about a therapist’s competence is important. It quickly became apparent during the session that Jeff was exactly what we needed. I’ve never seen my son so comfortable and quick to trust; his ease with Jeff was immediate.
Jeff demonstrates a commendable level of approachability and professionalism that is uncommon in his field. Upon returning home, my son expressed that Jeff was able to understand him in ways previous therapists had not achieved. Notably, my son looked forward to continuing his therapy sessions with Jeff. I extend my appreciation to Jeff for his exceptional work.
